| There are various types of exams for fertility treatment. We start from three basic points. These are the OVARY, fallopian TUBE, SPERM. The basic ovarian exam establishes whether ovulation is occurring or not. Next, if ovulation is occurring we wish to determine if the timing of the ovulation is appropriate. Last we examine the quality and maturational status of the ovum.
The basic exam of the fallopian tube is done to see if the ovum can pass smoothly through the tube to reach the uterus.. We check carefully to see if occlusions or strictures exists. For any patient with a proven disorder of tubal patency (narrowed or choked), we carry out a FT (falloposcopic tuboplasty) treatment or IVF. This procedure takes only about 15 minutes because there is no need foor hospitalization, just ambulatory care. We perform a re-cannalization of any fallopian tube that is choked or narrowed using a catheter( thin and stretchable plastic tube)in a similar manner to angioplasty. We then observe inside the inner lining of the fallopian tube with a salpingoscope.
Evaluation of sperm morphology and function is also important. We have a number of the special tests of sperm function at IVF NAMBA, including examination of morphological regions classified into “head” “tail” “neck” and tests of the anticipated ability to achieve fertilization, |
