We carry out a two-step embryo transfer aiming to achieve higher rates of pregnancy. Stated simply, this is a method comprised of a combination of embryo transfer carried out 2 days after egg retrieval and blastocyst transfer carried out 5 or 6 days after retrieval.
This technique was developed according to the following theory. It is hypothesized that, the first embryo put into the uterus operates in such a way as to make the endometrial environment prepare for implantation and somehow makesimplantation more likely when the blastocyst is subsequently transfered. We have succeed in applying this method to overcome intractable symptoms of recurrent failure.

■Low cancel rates of embryo transfer
It has a lower cancellation rates than when only blastocyst transfer is carried out. In case of only blastocyst, even if the embryos grow well by 2 to 3 days after the egg retrieval, it still has the possibility not to grow to blastocyst and result in a cancelled cycle. Then embryo transfer should have carried out in 2 days (Day2) or 3 days (Day3) after egg retrieval, and just expected the growth to being blastocyst in the womb. But by two-step embryo transfer, it will not be cancelled even didn’t grow to blastocyst.

■It is able to expect the effect to the patient with thin endometrium
This method is effective to the patient with thin endometrium and higher rates of pregnancy can be expected. At first, the first embryo (Day2) operates to endometrium to improve the competence of embryo and make good condition, and wait blastocyst for transfer (Day5 to Day6) to implant. We aggressively carry out this method against the symptom that didn’t get pregnant by fine blastocyst transfer.
